Canadian Home Builders Association- Saskatchewan is the voice of the residential construction industry, representing members throughout the province. The residential industry has been represented for over 35 years by CHBA- Saskatchewan and has stressed professionalism for employees and for employers. CHBA- Saskatchewan is continuously working on Human Resource Development. The Joint Training Committee encourages people to get into the residential construction industry. Focusing on professionalism in the workplace, by stressing certification and provides opportunity for youth by partnering them with local residential construction industry employers. This is a perfect transition, for the youth and employers, as it is imperative that our thriving industry recruits and retains young people in trade and management programs. The goals of professionalism continue within the Associations across Canada. Our member's are required to take the Certified Professional Home Builders’ program; it consists of courses centered on business management, customer service and building technique ensuring members maintain the highest standards of professionalism. Similarly, to provide consumer protection each member is required to provide an accepted third party New Home Warranty on all homes sold in Saskatchewan. We accept the warranty providers accepted by CMHC and Genworth for their mortgage underwriting purposes. Energy Efficiency is a major issue for consumers for existing or new homes. CHBA- Saskatchewan encourages the building of qualified new homes using R-2000 or ENERGY STAR programs or undertaking renovation under the Saskatchewan EnerGuide for houses program. By taking advantage of these programs we aim to create an environment of sustainable development through energy efficiency, resulting in energy savings and limiting green house gas emissions. Please see The Office of Energy Conservation and SaskEnergy for more information on these programs. Housing affordability and choice in housing is a primary issue for CHBA- Saskatchewan. By working with local, provincial and national partners we are making a difference and fulfilling the dream of home ownership. Through our programs we are addressing the labour and building shortage and through energy efficiency programs we are encouraging savings making home ownership more affordable.
