Swift Current is the economic hub of a region with a diverse economy, including a strong business sector, a healthy surrounding agricultural community and energy resources. The Centennial Wind Power Facility 25 kilometers outside of Swift Current is the second largest wind energy farm in Canada, with 83 turbines and the capacity to serve over 69,000 homes.

The Swift Current region also has the province's largest natural gas production capacity as well as conventional oil sources. The economic diversity of the region coupled with the strong business and service sector within the community lends strength and growth potential to the community.

With new opportunities for working in the green and conventional energy sectors and above average per capita income, Swift Current should see sustained growth for the future. Development plans in the community that focus on encouraging young families and businesses to come to the region and remain there to build a vibrant community will be beneficial to the region overall.
